Reseña
“Traducciones
de contratos Tomo I” es una obra nueva que toma como base el libro anterior
de la autora, Contratos I – Formularios inglés-castellano/ castellano-inglés,
para renacer con más material, mayor profundidad y contenidos actualizados.
A
diferencia de la primera versión, contiene más documentos y presenta varias
novedades: un glosario terminológico contextual de casi 600 palabras, referencias
al Plain English Movement (explicaciones y soluciones prácticas), marco teórico
en inglés y español de los contratos incluidos, notas de traductor indexadas, y
cada contrato y su traducción en espejo.
Es
una colección de contratos estadounidenses y británicos traducidos al español,
y contratos argentinos traducidos al inglés, 40 en total. Cada documento
original refleja el sistema jurídico que le es propio.
Sin
duda, es una obra imprescindible para el traductor jurídico, única en su tipo,
concebida en el lugar de trabajo de una traductora pública independiente con 24
años de ejercicio profesional y 15 de docencia universitaria en la carrera de
traductor público, conocedora del oficio y de las necesidades y dificultades de
quien tiene ante sí un texto específico para traducir.
This new book, “Traducciones de contratos
Tomo I”, uses the documents in the author´s first book Contratos I – Formularios
inglés-castellano/castellano-inglés, as a basic structure for an enlarged,
updated and more profound work.
It contains a larger number of
documents than the former and features several new sections to add value to a
book that is highly valuable per se: a contextual terminology glossary that
includes nearly 600 terms, references to Plain English Movement (explanations
and translation solutions), a brief theory of each type of contract included in
each part, i.e., general characteristics of US and UK documents on one hand,
and of Argentine documents on the other, index of translator’s notes, and
parallel texts (originals and translations on facing pages.)
In fact, “Traducciones de contratos
Tomo I” provides a collection of American and British contracts translated into
Spanish and Argentine ones translated into English, each half part reflecting
its own law system through a total number of 40 model contracts.
Needless to say, this is a very useful
book for translators, students, teachers, and everyone involved in the
translation of legal texts.
It was created at the very work place
of a certified translator who has been working as a freelancer for over 20
years, and teaching university translation programs for 15 years now. It
reflects precisely the needs of those who translate specific texts.
